The “Innovative Artist Recognition Award”

given by Dr. David Peters. 2002

“Dear Professor Babb - Last night's class was so awesome.  I have enjoyed every single class so much but last night had special meaning for me.  I now have even more respect and admiration for musicians and artists now that I have a small taste of how involved and intricate the recording process is.   I loved hearing all the individual tracks but especially enjoyed hearing the tracks of The Beatles voices without the instruments.  So cool.  I was mesmerized. Thank you very much for bringing in all of your equipment.  Have a great weekend.”

  1. Absolutely! Wish we had more time.

  1. 7.Instructional materials (for example, handouts and online resources)

    helped me learn the subject.

  1. All of the materials used in class are great. The textbook is a good reference tool as well without being expensive.

  1. 9.Overall, I learned a great deal from this class.

  1. I thought I knew the Beatles but now I feel I really have a greater appreciation for their contribution to the music world and I will enjoy listening to their music in the future even more.

  2. I learned so much about the Beatles!

  3. This prof helped me appreciate the impact that the Beatles had on society. This is the best class I have taken at IUPUI and this is the best professor I have had. He deserves to be able to teach more classes because he embodies what a professor should be. He is passionate about what he does. He engages the students. He is relevant. He makes students excited to come to class.

“this is the most organized class I have ever taken online at both IU and Purdue....”

Dear Mr. Babb,

I just wanted to say thanks for making MUS 401 so much fun. When you forget you're in school, and you look forward to going there for 3 hours, it really speaks for how much I enjoyed your class. Also, thanks for all of the awesome resources you posted for us online. I personally downloaded most of it. I've even gotten my mom reliving "Beatle Mania" now! This is my favorite class I've ever taken. You've strengthened my fascination with The Beatles, as well as my love for music.

Also, I'm not sure if this is supposed to happen, but I am still getting messages from you. I am actually back at Purdue now and not even attending IUPUI anymore. Actually, I would love it if you would keep sending me emails about new Beatles stuff if it's possible. Even now I still can't get enough of them! Hope you have a great semester.

This is the best class I have taken at IUPUI and this is the best professor I have had. He deserves to be able to teach more classes because he embodies what a professor should be. He is passionate about what he does. He engages the students. He is relevant. He makes students excited to come to class.

Thanks for being awesome, and for the amazing resources and opportunities in this course! I have been in college for a long time and this has been the only class I have enjoyed.:)
