“The Music of Pink Floyd”

MUS-Z 320

with Douglas Babb

Douglas Babb saw Roger Waters perform “The Wall”

live at The United Center, Chicago, IL. Friday, September 24, 2010.

The photos below were taken at the event

by Douglas Babb and Dale Hynek.

“Which One Is Pink?”

“Is There Anybody Out There” who would like to know what goes on behind “The Wall” or what happens on “The Dark Side of The Moon?” Then “Welcome to the Machine!”

Beginning in Spring 2010, IUPUI School of Music and Arts Technology is offering “The Music of Pink Floyd,” MUS-Z320, Tuesdays from 6:00- 8:40.

The class was cancelled Fall 2015.

Floyd enthusiast Douglas Babb, who also teaches the very popular Z401 “The Music of The Beatles” on Wednesday nights, and previously M110 “Music and Computers” will present the class.

Babb has seen Pink Floyd countless times; he has met guitarist David Gilmour, and has just returned from seeing Roger Waters perform “The Wall” in its entirety. TWICE! See photos below!

Drawing on Babb’s collection of rare recordings and video, the class will start in the psychedelic 60’s and cover the Floyd's music, lighting, staging, recording techniques, album art and lyrics.

Don’t have “A Momentary Lapse of Reason!” Listen to “The Division Bell” and make “The Final Cut.” Sign up now for “The Music of Pink Floyd” or you’ll “Wish You Were Here!”

The video above is a classic scene from “WKRP in Cincinnati.”

Very funny...

PINK FLOYD REDEFINE THEIR EMI LEGACY

Major Pink Floyd release campaign, Why Pink Floyd?, to include unreleased music from the archives, collectors’ box sets and complete studio recordings remastered.

Pink Floyd and EMI Music, whose association dates from 1967, announce a comprehensive release schedule, to be launched on September 26, 2011, encompassing CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, SACD, an array of digital formats, viral marketing, iPhone Apps and a brand-new single-album ‘Best Of’ collection.

The legendary band, who are still one of the most successful and iconic artists of all time, recently signed an agreement with EMI which has allowed the development of a multi-format programme of packages, many containing archive material that has been collated during an extensive process between EMI and Pink Floyd for a range of media formats.

I share his enthusiasm and really liked this course.

He is a real professional and a very gifted educator.”

*Mr. Babb may possibly be the most interesting man on the campus of IUPUI. There need to be

more teachers like him who demonstrate so much passion for their subject. I would recommend this

class to every student on IUPUI's campus.”
